How do people come up with those whimsical ideas for morphing images and transitions in motion design? This February I took the time to explore what makes my mind come up with ideas and how I could use it in my work process.
I threw myself into creating anything with the art supplies I had at hand: watercolors, acrylics and acrylic inks, gelatos (those are great!) and watercolor crayons. No planning, relatively large scale, using a few sheets of sketch paper at a time so I didn’t have to wait for the one piece to dry.
I soon noticed that just occasionally glancing on the sheet of paper covered with ink and paint marks while dripping ink on another one, I would suddenly start seeing shapes inside it. I even come up with a story what the shape was doing there and what would happen to it “in the next frame”. All while spraying or dripping paint!
